AI photo booth or classic photo booth?

Short answer: the question sounds like either/or, but it usually is not. An AI photo booth is not a different box standing next to the old one — it is what happens to the pictures after they are taken. That is why almost any existing photo booth can have AI added, and why anyone without one does not need to rent one either. One thing at a time.
What the classic photo booth does well
There are reasons it has stood at parties for years. The print is in the tray seconds after the shutter — held, written on, glued into the guest book. The prop box and the dressing-up work without any technology at all. And it keeps going when the venue's Wi-Fi falters, because it needs none.
If that is exactly what you want — a proven ritual with an instant paper photo — you are doing nothing wrong with a classic booth.
What the AI photo booth does differently
The difference is not the shutter, it is what happens afterwards. The photo becomes a freshly painted picture: the table as a Renaissance painting, the maid of honour in a snow-covered forest — with their own, recognisable faces. That costs time: usually a good twenty seconds, and just under a minute when several people trigger at once. At a party that is rarely a problem — the wait in front of the booth is where tables mix — but it is a difference from instant printing, and anyone who hides it is selling you something else.
On top of that is what remains after the evening: every picture hangs on a QR code, lands on the guest's phone and at the same time in the gallery of the celebration — together with the phone photos your guests upload themselves. And an AI photo booth needs internet: the transformation happens not in the booth but on servers behind it.
The honest comparison
- Instantly in your hand: the classic booth. Paper within seconds. The AI photo booth delivers to the phone and into the gallery; printing on site works, but the AI image needs its half minute first.
- Pictures that get passed around: the AI photo booth. A strip of silly faces is a memory by Monday; a picture of the maid of honour as a Renaissance painting gets shown three times.
- Without internet: the classic booth. An AI photo booth without a connection is an ordinary camera.
- Large groups: a draw. The classic booth captures whatever fits in front of the lens. Among AI scenes, some carry a whole table while others get tight from about four people on — a good AI photo booth says so beforehand instead of handing you a picture with someone missing afterwards.
- Setting up: the AI photo booth, when it brings no hardware. A tablet on a tripod is enough — no flight case, no delivery, no collection slot.
